Mortal Kombat XL Free: Get It on Steam

Mortal Kombat XL is NetherRealm Studios’ definitive edition of Mortal Kombat X, packing every piece of downloadable content released for the game into a single package. Released in 2016, it includes both Kombat Packs, guest fighters like Predator, Alien, and Leatherface, plus additional skins and costumes that the base game never came with. If you want the complete Mortal Kombat X experience on PC, this is the version to own, and there are legitimate ways to get it without simply handing over full price on release day.

Getting Steam Games for Free

Finding Mortal Kombat XL free is trickier than it sounds, because what greets you along the way is not what it seems. A lot of offers promise a free copy but deliver something far less appealing: files from unofficial sources that can carry malware, expose your personal data, or silently compromise your device. Beyond the security risk, copies obtained this way cut you off from Steam’s online multiplayer modes and achievements entirely, which strips out a huge part of what makes the game worth playing in the first place. There are also expired beta promotions from years ago that still circulate online as if they are current, and they are not.

One genuinely useful thing to know: if you already own Mortal Kombat X on Steam, the XL upgrade was provided to existing owners at no extra charge. Check your Steam library before purchasing anything. If you are starting from scratch, the safe options are buying directly through Steam, watching for one of the game’s periodic deep discounts, or earning a Steam gift card through Snakzy and using that to cover the cost. Legitimate codes and gift cards from Eneba are another solid option when you want to buy a Steam key without using a payment card directly.

Is Mortal Kombat XL worth it? For any serious fighting game fan, absolutely. The roster across both Kombat Packs runs to more than 30 fighters, the story mode delivers several hours of cinematic content, and the online modes, including ranked matches and the King of the Hill format, keep the game alive well past the campaign. Getting it through a Steam gift card earned in Snakzy means you access every online feature from day one, including Steam achievements, which unofficial copies simply cannot offer.

What about Mortal Kombat XL on Android?

Mortal Kombat XL is a PC and console release, available on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One. The mobile game on Android is a separate title, Mortal Kombat X Mobile, which is its own free-to-play experience with a different structure and roster. They share characters and lore but are not the same product, and one cannot substitute for the other.
