Black Ops 3 Free on Steam, Legitimately

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 remains one of the most ambitious entries in the franchise, launching in 2015 with a full campaign, an expansive multiplayer suite, and the beloved Zombies mode that fans still play today. Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, it sits on Steam as a paid title, which is exactly why so many players go searching for a black ops 3 free path before they commit to buying. The good news is that a legitimate route exists, and it does not involve anything sketchy.

Getting Steam Games for Free

The moment you start searching for a free copy of Black Ops 3 on PC, you will notice the offers you run into fall into two broad buckets: outdated promotions that are long expired, and deals that promise a paid game for nothing in exchange for very little. Neither is worth your time.

The PS Plus offer that circulated back in 2018 was a genuine promotion, but it has not been available for years. Referencing it now as a live option is misleading, and no amount of hunting will bring it back. Similarly, codes that claim to hand you a full Steam key at no cost almost always turn out to be expired, invalid, or attached to pages that ask for personal details or payment information before revealing that they deliver nothing. Downloading the game from an unofficial source carries real risks: malware, compromised account credentials, and a version of the game that may break features or expose your system to security vulnerabilities. Beyond the technical dangers, installing software from an unofficial source can put your account security and your entire game library at risk. The most reliable place to buy Black Ops 3 is directly through Steam, ideally during one of its periodic sales when the price drops to a far more comfortable level. Legitimate codes and gift cards from Eneba are another solid option, letting you fund your Steam wallet without paying full price out of pocket.

Is Black Ops 3 free on Steam?

No, Black Ops 3 is not free on Steam. It is a paid title with no free-to-play tier. Steam does occasionally run deep sales on older Call of Duty titles, and catching one of those is the most straightforward way to reduce the cost through official channels.

Why Is Black Ops 3 Still Full Price?

Activision sets the base price, and the publisher has kept it at a premium despite the game’s age, which frustrates a lot of players who feel a decade-old title should cost less. The price does fall significantly during Steam sales, so watching for those is the practical answer if the standard price feels steep.
