Among Us Free on PC: Get It Safely

Among Us took the world by storm in 2020, turning the simple idea of deception among crewmates into a global phenomenon. Developed by Innersloth and originally released in 2018, the social deduction game remains one of the most recognisable titles across every platform. If you have been searching for among us free options, the answer depends heavily on which platform you are asking about, and much of what circulates on the topic is not quite what it seems.

Getting Steam Games for Free

Among Us is free to download on iOS and Android, which is genuinely good news for mobile players. On Steam and PC, however, it carries a modest price tag, and that is where the confusion starts. When people go hunting for a free PC copy, they run into a crowded mix of unofficial sites, clone games, and lookalike portals that use the Among Us name without being the real Innersloth product at all. Some of these sites serve fan-made imitations that look similar but lack the official maps, roles, cosmetics, and account progress that the real game includes. Others simply do not work. Beyond clone sites, downloads from unofficial sources carry real risks: malware, spyware, theft of personal data, and account bans are all genuine outcomes that are not worth chasing a free copy over. The safe route is always buying directly from Steam, or picking up a legitimate Steam gift card from Eneba to cover the cost without spending your own cash directly.

How to Get Among Us for Free on Steam?

The cleanest path is earning a Steam gift card through Snakzy and spending it on the official Steam listing. You get the complete, up-to-date game from Innersloth, with every map including Airship and The Fungle, all role updates, cross-play with other platforms, and full access to official cosmetics and account progress.

Here is how the process works from start to finish:

Download the Snakzy app and create your free account.
Explore the library of mobile games available inside the app.
Play games and hit milestones or complete tasks to earn coins.
Redeem your coins for a Steam gift card.
Head to Steam, find Among Us, and use the gift card to complete your purchase.
Install the official game and jump into your first match as crewmate or impostor.

Among Us offline mode also deserves a mention here. The game does support local play, where everyone connects to the same Wi-Fi network without needing an internet connection to a server. This makes it a fantastic option for family game nights or gatherings where a data connection is unreliable. Local play preserves all the core deception mechanics that make the game worth playing in the first place.

Did Among Us Ever Become Free on PC?

Among Us was offered at no cost through the Epic Games Store during a limited-time promotion, which is why so many players remember it being free on PC. That promotion ended, and the game has been a paid title on Steam ever since. On mobile, it has always been free to download, though some cosmetic content sits behind optional purchases.

Is Among Us Safe for Younger Players?

Among Us carries an ESRB rating of 10 and above, with content limited to cartoon-style fantasy violence and no graphic material. The in-game chat can be restricted to preset phrases only, which removes free-text messaging for players whose parents prefer that option. For children around seven years old, parental supervision and the chat safety settings together make for a much more comfortable experience.
